San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings is one of two FedEx Air & Ground Player of Week 3 Award winners after a career-high in receptions (11), receiving yards (175) and touchdowns (three) against the Los Angeles Rams. By recording those impressive numbers, he became just the second player in franchise history to register 10-or-more receptions, 150-or-more receiving yards and three-or-more receiving touchdowns in a single game, joining wide receiver Jerry Rice, who accomplished the feat three times.
Jennings had a number of eye-catching receptions versus the Rams, but none with more wow-factor than his third quarter grab over the top of L.A. safety Quentin Lake's head for the 32-yard gain. In a game in which the 49ers were missing some key offensive playmakers, Jennings stepped up to help power San Francisco's offense in a hard-fought NFC West battle.
"Jauan was unbelievable," head coach Kyle Shanahan said. "I think the numbers show it, but it's more than the numbers. He was a warrior the whole game. He's always like that, and he got a lot more opportunities (Sunday). He was automatic on every single one. Even on some bad looks, when you didn't know if the ball should go there, you quickly saw after they weren't going to take that away from Jauan. He was very inspiring with how he played."
More Information on the FedEx Air & Ground Player Award History:
The FedEx Air and Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are new and improved for the 2024 season. In addition to quarterbacks and running backs, wide receivers and tight ends are now eligible to be recognized as the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. Unlike years past, fans are no longer restricted to selecting one top air and one top ground performer of the week. Instead, fans can vote for their top two performers from a group of six standout offensive players from the full week of NFL action.
Voting for weekly nominees is open each week of the regular season from Monday morning to Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET at NFL.com/FedEx. Fans can also vote on X (formerly Twitter) via the NFL published polls at @NFL and on the NFL Mobile App.
While the criteria for the players has changed, the charitable driving force of the program remains the same. For the 2024-25 season, FedEx will once again proudly work with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to make donations of $2,000 in the names of the two winning players ($4,000 total) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country every week.
