What the 49ers and Buccaneers Had to Say Following Week 10

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 at Raymond James Stadium in Week 10. Here's what both teams had to say following the contest:

Niners Liners

San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan on rebounding:

"I'm proud of the guys in all three phases - how they rebounded. I mean (offense) - just those two struggles in the red zone. Coming back and making that big one by Brock Purdy and George Kittle there - I think it was second and goal from the 10. The struggles on special teams - mainly with the missed field goals. For Jake Moody to come back at the last one - there is as much pressure on him as you can imagine on anyone, with missing those three in the game and for him to drill that was huge. Even the muffed punt, I didn't put that on Jacob Cowing - he's got to catch it. But Darrell Luter Jr. getting in his way - he's got to get out of his way. That's a problem, but for him to come back and make a big play returning it later and the defense, who I thought was solid all game, but those huge penalties on that last drive, to have those you can just see the way it's going for them to still hold them to a field goal I thought was huge and it gave us a chance to answer there in there at the end."

Shanahan on WR Ricky Pearsall's Week 10 performance:

"Ricky was awesome. He made the plays he needed to when we went to him. Scoring a touchdown on that - he beat his guy in coverage, and then made a great catch in scoring points there is huge. Not making us have to do anything on the 3 or 1 (yard line). I know it was close, but great job getting it in. His hands on the last drive, I know he got the out-route - which was a big one. But, the dagger that he caught was a huge one that got us down there."

Shanahan on RB Christian McCaffrey's return to game action:

"He came out great, which was huge. We knew it was going to be hard to load manage him... Talking to him, he felt great. We're going to be pumped to have him back next week."

Quarterback Brock Purdy on his second-half adjustments:

"Second half, I just told myself, 'Alright dude, just go out and compete and rip it – don't hesitate.' And I thought in the second half we all did that. The guys were open, I didn't hold back, and we just tried to stay ahead of the chains and move the ball and keep it simple, and so that was the biggest part, understanding that it's a four quarter game for a reason. What happens early on can't affect you right now in the present, so that was my mindset, and I thought we were all able to finish pretty well as a team."

Running back Christian McCaffrey on his journey back from injury:

"I'm just happy I'm here. That was a long journey and a lot of long days, so it feels good to win and it feels good to just play in a football game again... When you miss time due to something like that, nobody wants to be on the field more than me. Just to be out there again, to be honest with you, you really realize how much of a privilege it is to play football."

Kicker Jake Moody on scoring the game-winning field goal:

"I think that's just a credit to having great teammates, trusting in me and picking me up. The coaches – they weren't worried at all. They had all the faith in the world and sent me back out there for six tries on Sunday. Thankfully I got another chance and was able to make it."

Buccaneers Quotes

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles on the loss to San Francisco:

"We have to finish ballgames. When guys get a chance to play, they have to come in, play and execute. We can't play hard and then not play smart at the end. We have to play smarter football. There's nothing wrong with how hard we're playing and how tough we're playing, but we have to finish games. We have to find a way to finish ballgames. We're making too many mistakes at the end."

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield on his outlook following the Week 10 game:

"It's a matter of wins and losses, and we're still not winning, so it still sucks. We've got to play to win down there at the end on offense. It's trying to balance bleeding the clock out so they don't have too much time, but also, go win the game. Unfortunately, we had a negative play down there that set us back a little bit. I just have to make a better throw, or win our one-on-one matchups, and somehow find a way to win. That's all that matters."
