Linebacker Dre Greenlaw's time in The Bay has come to an end following a six-season stint with the San Francisco 49ers. Greenlaw was one of a few veteran starters testing the market in free agency and has opted to sign on with the Denver Broncos for the next chapter of his career.
Since being selected in the fifth-round (148th overall) pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, Greenlaw developed into one of the leaders of San Francisco's defense and one half of a formidable linebacker tandem with Pro Bowler and All-Pro Fred Warner. Outside of the two years in which Greenlaw suffered significant injuries (2021 and 2024), Warner and Greenlaw have closed out every season as No. 1 and 2 in tackles, respectively.
Over the course of his six seasons with the 49ers, Greenlaw appeared in 64 games (56 starts) and recorded 455 tackles, 14 passes defensed, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and two forced fumbles. He also started in 12 postseason games, and in those dozen playoff contests, registered 72 tackles, three passes defensed, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
The veteran linebacker spent most of the 2024 season rehabbing from a Achilles injury he suffered in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVIII. His return to action in Week 15 was highly anticipated by both the team and the fanbase, who erupted in cheers for his intro to the field.
