Changes are coming to the 49ers offensive line in 2025 with left guard Aaron Banks taking his talents to the Green Bay Packers in the upcoming season. The now fifth-year offensive lineman has started the last three seasons, anchoring the left side of the line alongside 11-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro Trent Williams.
Banks was a second-round selection (48th-overall) of the 2021 NFL draft, and, since being drafted, has appeared in 53 regular season games (43 starts) and seven postseason contests (six starts). Per Pro Football Focus, he recorded his best statistical year in 2024, posting a 65.4-overall offensive grade. Banks also registered a career-high, 68.9 run blocking grade. Over the course of his four-year career with the 49ers, Banks surrendered just three sacks and 16 quarterback hits.
The fifth-year pro is a Bay Area native who was born in Hayward, CA. He opted to spend his draft weekend at home and to be surrounded by all his loved ones when he got the call from San Francisco.
"It is insane," Banks said in his draft day press conference. "It's funny because all of my high school coaches are here, and every single one of them are 49ers fans through and through. (They were) wearing their 49ers gear. I got the call, and I was able to point to the TV and say, 'That's it!' The place just erupted. It was insane. This is the best moment of my life, by far."
