Recipe of the Week: Brisket Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • Smoked brisket (2-3 pounds, shredded)
  • Barbecue sauce (1/2 cup)
  • Provolone cheese (1 1/2 cups, shredded)
  • Cheddar cheese (1 1/2 cups, shredded)
  • Goat cheese (4 ounces)
  • Lasagna sheets (12 sheets)
  • Salt (1-2 tablespoons)
  • Pepper (1-2 tablespoons)
  • Brisket seasoning (1-2 tablespoons)

Instructions:

Step 1

Season the brisket with salt, pepper and your favorite brisket seasoning. Smoke the brisket for 8 to 10 hours using apple wood for a deep, smoky flavor. Once smoked, shred some of the brisket and chop the rest to add variety to the lasagna layers.

Step 2

Preheat your oven to 300°F. Lightly coat the bottom of the lasagna pan with a small amount of barbecue sauce, about 2 tablespoons. Avoid using too much to prevent burning during baking.

Step 3

Lay down a sheet of pre-cooked lasagna noodles. Add a layer of shredded brisket (about 1/2 pound per layer) on top of the noodles. Sprinkle a generous layer of cheddar cheese (about 1/4 cup per layer), followed by provolone cheese (about 1/4 cup per layer). Add small dollops of goat cheese (about 1 ounce per layer) to bring creaminess to the dish. Repeat the layers in the following order: lasagna sheets, shredded brisket, cheddar, provolone and goat cheese.

Step 4

Finish with one last layer of lasagna sheets, followed by the remaining brisket and cheese. Add a light drizzle of barbecue sauce on top.

Step 5

Cover the lasagna with foil and bake in the preheated oven at 300°F for about 1 hour.

Expert tip:

In the last 10 minutes of baking, remove the foil to allow the cheese to brown nicely.

The brisket lasagna is now ready to be enjoyed! Whether you're tailgating at Levi's® Stadium or cooking up a gameday meal at home, this dish is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
