5THINGSTOKNOW-Willis-Alumni

In the San Francisco 49ers Week 5 contest against the Arizona Cardinals, the team will honor the 49ers legends of the past in their annual alumni weekend celebrations. This year, the organization will be highlighting members from the 1984 and 1994 Super Bowl winning teams and honoring former linebacker Patrick Willis for his recent induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Here's what to look for during the 49ers alumni weekend gameday celebration:

Alumni Procession

Get to Levi's® Stadium early to experience the team's pregame alumni procession featuring members from the legendary 1984 and 1994 teams. Some of the biggest names in 49ers history such as Ronnie Lott, Keena Turner and Ricky Watters will be in the building and honored before the 49ers face the Arizona Cardinals for a divisional showdown.

Color Guard

Presenting our nation's colors ahead of kickoff will be the U.S. Marine Corps, Combat Logistics Battalion 453. The Site Support San Jose Supply Company has represented Santa Clara Valley since 1949. Originally activated as the first Amphibious Tractor Company for the Korean conflict in 1950, the Battalion underwent several re-designations and moved to the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center in San Jose in 1955, where they remain today.

National Anthem

The national anthem will be performed by Mateo Adalberto Lopez. First recognized as the world's youngest mariachi at age four, Lopez gained fame through NBC's "Little Big Shots" and "Mexico Tiene Talento." Now, at ten, Mateo is an accomplished performer with notable achievements, including performing at Milan's "Le Show De Records," singing national anthems at major events, and making media appearances on platforms like People Magazine and USA Today. He has also participated in high-profile campaigns, such as Univision's Teleton USA and Crayola's Stay Creative campaign.

Halftime Show

At halftime, the 49ers will honor the one and only Patrick Willis. The former 49ers All-Pro linebacker will be receiving the Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence for joining this year's class of greats. Willis was selected eleventh overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the 49ers and had an immediate impact, earning the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award with 174 tackles and 4.0 sacks. Over his career, he was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and the first 49ers player to earn All-Pro status in his first six seasons. Willis started all 112 games he played, totaling 1,225 tackles, 20.5 sacks, eight interceptions and 53 passes defended. His Pro Football Hall of Fame induction follows five nominations, reinforcing his status as one of the league's all-time greats.

Latino Heritage Month

Each year, Americans observe National Latino Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th by recognizing the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. In Week 5 vs. the Cardinals, the 49ers will commemorate Latino culture and history with special content and unique in-game activations.
