49ers Sign Terique Owens and Jonathan Garvin to Practice Squad, Other Roster Moves

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed DL Jonathan Garvin and WR Terique Owens to the team's practice squad and released DL Shakel Brown from the practice squad. In addition, the team has opened the practice window for DL Kalia Davis (Injured Reserve List).

Garvin (6-4, 257) was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round (242nd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his three-year NFL career with the Packers (2020-22), Garvin appeared in 38 games (one start) and registered 32 tackles, two passes defensed and 1.5 sacks. Following his release from the Packers on July 28, 2023, Garvin spent time with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL) where he registered 19 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Garvin signed with the 49ers on August 9, 2024 and was released by the team on September 10.

A 25-year-old native of Lake Worth Beach, FL, Garvin attended the University of Miami (2017-19), where he appeared in 38 games (24 starts) and registered 106 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, five passes defensed and four forced fumbles.

Owens (6-3, 200) originally signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 6, 2024 and was released on August 15.

A 25-year-old native of Pleasanton, CA, Owens attended Contra Costa (CA) Community College (2018) and Florida Atlantic (2019-20) before transferring to Missouri State (2021-23) where he appeared in 38 games (two starts) and registered 61 receptions for 1,071 yards and six touchdowns.

Brown (6-3, 295) originally signed to the practice squad on September 25, 2024.
