49ers Announce Coaching Staff Moves Ahead of 2025 Season

The San Francisco 49ers and head coach Kyle Shanahan have announced the following coaching hires/title changes:

Anderson joins the 49ers from the Tennessee Titans where he spent one season (2024) as the team's special teams coordinator. He joined the Titans after starting his NFL coaching career with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he spent four seasons (2020-23) as an assistant special teams coach.

Prior to his NFL coaching career, Anderson played eight NFL seasons as a safety with the Philadelphia Eagles (2010-13), Indianapolis Colts (2014-15) and Buffalo Bills (2016-17). Throughout his eight-year career, he registered 48 tackles, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one interception and one fumble recovery and added 58 tackles on special teams.

A native of Butte, MT, Anderson played collegiately at the University of Montana for four seasons (2005-08) where he totaled 313 tackles, 25 passes defensed,14.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 1.0 sack. He earned First-Team All-Big Sky (2006-08) and First-Team All-American (2008) honors during his collegiate career.

Blair III enters his second season with the 49ers coaching staff, and his first as special teams quality control, after he worked with the team's defensive line as a 2024 Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellow. Prior to coaching, Blair III spent six seasons playing defensive line in the NFL with the 49ers (2016-20) and New York Jets (2021) where he appeared in 55 games (five starts) and registered 116 tackles, 14.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Blair III attended Appalachian State University where he played defensive end for five years (2011-15).

Bradley joins the 49ers after spending three seasons (2022-24) as the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts. He joined the Colts following a one-year stint with the Las Vegas Raiders (2021) and four seasons (2017-20) with the Los Angeles Chargers, serving as the defensive coordinator at both stops.

Prior to his time with the Chargers, Bradley served as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars for four seasons (2013-16) after four seasons (2009-12) as the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. Bradley began his NFL coaching career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, serving as the team's linebackers coach for three seasons (2006-08).

Before entering the NFL, Bradley coached at the Division II collegiate level, serving in various defensive coaching positions over 12 seasons (1990-91, 96-2005) at North Dakota State and four seasons (1992-95) at Fort Lewis College.

A native of Zumbrota, MN, Bradley attended North Dakota State for five seasons (1984-88) where he was a safety and punter. During his collegiate playing career, he helped the Bison win three NCAA Division II Football Championships (1984, 87-88).

Brown enters his first season with the 49ers as the team's defensive backs/cornerbacks coach. He joins the 49ers after 15 years of collegiate coaching experience, spending the 2024 season as the secondary coach for Boston College.

Prior to his stint at Boston College, Brown spent eight seasons as cornerbacks coach at Washington State University (2022-23), Utah State University (2021), Troy University (2019-20) and Abilene Christian University (2016-18). Brown also served as a graduate assistant/cornerbacks at Arizona State University (2014-15), a graduate assistant/safeties at Washington State (2013) and special teams coordinator/defensive backs at Division II Oklahoma Baptist University. Brown began his coaching career at his alma mater, Division II East Central University (OK), as a run game coordinator/running backs coach (2010-11).

A native of Oklahoma City, OK, Brown attended East Central for four seasons (2006-09) where he was a four-year starter at cornerback. He earned his bachelor's degree in business marketing in 2009 and later earned his master's degree from the school in sports administration in 2011.

Foerster enters his 11th overall season with the 49ers, and first as assistant head coach/offensive line, after spending the previous seven seasons (2018-24) as the team's run game coordinator/offensive line coach (2022-24), offensive line coach (2021), assistant offensive line coach (2020) and as a consultant (2018-19).

Since joining the 49ers in 2018, Foerster has helped the 49ers offense rank tied-for-first in yards per play (6.0), third in rushing yards per game (130.8), fourth in yards per game (375.5), sixth in points per game (25.5), tied-for-sixth in yards per rush (4.5) and seventh in passing yards per game (244.7) during that span (2018-24). He has also played an integral role in helping T Trent Williams earn three-consecutive Associated Press First-Team All-Pro honors (2021-23) and five-consecutive Pro Bowl selections (2019-24).

Foerster has more than 30 years of NFL coaching experience and has served as an offensive line coach at multiple stops, including the Miami Dolphins (2016-17), San Francisco (2015, 2008-09), Washington Commanders (2010-14), Baltimore Ravens (2005-07) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1996-2001). He has also served as the offensive coordinator for the Dolphins (2004), tight ends coach for the Indianapolis Colts (2002-03) and assistant offensive line/tight ends coach for the Minnesota Vikings (1993-95). Foerster began his coaching career in the collegiate ranks, serving as the offensive line coach at the University of Minnesota (1992) and assistant offensive line/special teams coach at Stanford University (1988-91). He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant in 1982 at his alma mater, Colorado State University, and later served as the school's offensive line coach (1983-87).

A native of Milwaukee, WI, Foerster graduated with a degree in history after a successful playing career with Colorado State as a center from 1979-1982, starting as a walk-on before earning a scholarship as a sophomore.

Graves enters his fourth season with the 49ers, and first as the team's offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach, after spending the previous three seasons (2022-24) as an assistant offensive line coach.

As assistant offensive line coach, Graves has helped the 49ers offense rank first in yards per play (6.3), second in yards per game (380.1), third in yards per rush (4.7), fifth in points per game (26.1) and seventh in passing yards per game (244.6) over the past three seasons (2022-24). Graves has worked closely with Trent Williams, who has been named AP First-Team All-Pro two times (2022-23) and earned three Pro Bowl selections (2022-23) during that span.

Prior to joining the 49ers, Graves spent six seasons (2016-21) coaching in the collegiate ranks. He spent one season (2021) as the special teams coordinator/tight ends coach for Georgia Southern University and three seasons (2018-20) at the University of Louisiana-Monroe serving as running backs coach (2019-20) and a graduate assistant (2018). Graves began his coaching career as a running backs coach at Southeastern Louisiana University (2016-17).

A native of Covington, LA, Graves spent four years (2012-15) at Southeastern Louisiana, where he was an offensive lineman for the school, appeared in 44 games and earned All-Southland honors in each of his final three seasons. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Southeastern Louisiana in May of 2016.

Hagedorn enters his ninth season with the 49ers, and first as chief of staff, football, after spending four seasons (2021-24) as the assistant to the head coach. He spent the four seasons prior to that (2017-20) as the team's assistant to the coaching staff.

Before joining San Francisco, Hagedorn served two seasons (2015-16) as the director of football operations at Elon University. Prior to his time at Elon, he was the graduate assistant for operations and recruiting at Ball State University.

A native of Tell City, IN, Hagedorn graduated from Ball State with a degree in sport administration.

Hankerson enters his fifth season with the 49ers, and first as wide receivers/passing game specialist, after spending the previous four seasons (2021-24) with the team as wide receivers coach (2022-24) and offensive quality control (2021).

As the team's wide receivers coach, Hankerson led a unit that ranked first in yards per reception (12.8), seventh in total receiving yards (13,050) and 10th in receiving touchdowns (86) during that span (2022-24). WR Brandon Aiyuk registered consecutive seasons (2022-23) with 1,000-or-more receiving yards and earned AP Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2023 under Hankerson's tutelage. While serving as offensive quality control in 2021, Hankerson aided a 49ers offense that ranked tied-for-first in yards per play (6.1) and seventh in total yards per game (375.7) and rushing yards per game (127.4).

Prior to coaching in the NFL, Hankerson spent four seasons (2017-20) coaching in the collegiate ranks, serving as wide receivers coach at Stephen F. Austin State University (2019-20) and the University of Massachusetts (2018). He also served one season (2017) as a graduate assistant at Massachusetts. Hankerson began his coaching career at Palmer Trinity School (Miami, FL) in 2016 as the school's wide receivers/tight ends coach.

A native of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Hankerson was drafted by the Washington Commanders in the third round (79th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played five years in the NFL with the Commanders (2011-14), Atlanta Falcons (2015), Buffalo Bills (2015) and New England Patriots (2015) and appeared in 41 games (14 starts), registering 107 receptions for 1,408 yards and nine touchdowns. Hankerson attended the University of Miami, where he played wide receiver for four seasons (2007-10).

Hayes-Stoker enters his fifth season with the 49ers, and first as the team's offensive assistant/wide receivers coach, after spending the previous four seasons (2021-24) as the assistant defensive backs coach (2023-24) and defensive quality control (2021-22).

As the team's assistant defensive backs coach, Hayes-Stoker helped the 49ers secondary post top-10 marks in interceptions (33 – tied for third), opponent passer rating (85.2 – fourth) and opponent passing yards per game (203.5 – seventh) during that span (2023-24). While serving as defensive quality control, he aided a 49ers defense that ranked first overall in the NFL in 2022, allowing 300.6 total yards per game and first with 16.3 points allowed per game. In 2021, the 49ers defense held its opponents to 310.0 total yards per game, ranking third in the NFL, and 206.5 passing yards per game, the sixth-best mark in the league.

Before joining the 49ers, Hayes-Stoker spent five seasons (2016-20) as the wide receivers coach at the University of Illinois. He joined Illinois after two seasons (2014-15) as the wide receivers coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prior to his time in Tampa Bay, he spent one season (2013) as running backs coach at Florida International University. Hayes-Stoker first entered the NFL in 2006 with the Chicago Bears, where he spent seven seasons (2006-2012). He served as a football operations assistant (2006-09), offensive quality control (2010-11) and offensive assistant/wide receivers coach (2012) for the organization. Hayes-Stoker began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M University in 2005 after spending the 2004 season as a recruiting assistant at his alma mater, Texas Christian University.

A native of Arlington, TX, Hayes-Stoker played running back at Texas Christian (1999-2002), where he was a two-time team captain and earned academic All-American honors. He graduated from the school with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in education.

Kubiak enters his fifth season with the 49ers, and first as the team's offensive coordinator, after spending the previous four seasons as the offensive passing game specialist (2024), assistant quarterbacks coach (2022-23) and defensive quality control coach (2021).

As the team's offensive passing game specialist, Kubiak helped direct the fourth-ranked passing offense in the NFL (249.1 yards per game) in 2024. With his help, WR Jauan Jennings experienced a career year, registering career highs in receptions (77), receiving yards (975) and receiving touchdowns (six). Kubiak also helped TE George Kittle earn AP Second-Team All-Pro honors and the sixth Pro Bowl selection of his career after he led the team in receptions (78), receiving yards (1,106) and receiving touchdowns (eight). Kittle's 1,106 receiving yards marked his second-consecutive and fourth overall season with 1,000-or-more receiving yards, making him one of five tight ends in NFL history to register four such seasons.

As the team's assistant quarterbacks coach (2022-23), Kubiak worked closely with QB Brock Purdy, helping him break multiple records. In 2023, Purdy set the single season franchise records for passing yards (4,280) and passer rating (113.0) and became the first 49ers quarterback to throw 30-or-more touchdowns since the 2001 season. When Purdy became the starter in 2022, Kubiak played a role in helping him become the first quarterback in franchise history to win their first five starts and the third rookie quarterback in NFL history to win at least their first five starts. In 2021, Kubiak assisted a defensive unit that that ranked third in the NFL in total defense, holding opponents to 310.0 yards per game.

Prior to joining the 49ers, Kubiak spent three seasons (2018-20) as head coach at Strake Jesuit (TX) College Preparatory, leading the Crusaders to a 24-11 record and a playoff appearance in each season. Kubiak is the only coach in the school's history to win double-digit games as part of the University Interscholastic League (UIL), which Jesuit joined in 2003.

A native of Houston, TX, Kubiak attended Colorado State University where he was a quarterback for the Rams from 2007-10. He majored in English at the school and would later earn a master's degree in the subject from Texas Christian in 2013. Kubiak is the son of longtime NFL coach, and former 49ers quarterbacks coach, Gary Kubiak. His brother, Klint, is the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks.

Lombardi enters his sixth overall season with the 49ers, and first as quarterbacks coach, after spending the 2023 season as the team's senior offensive assistant. In his role as senior offensive assistant, Lombardi helped lead a 49ers offense that featured two AP Second-Team All-Pros in FB Kyle Juszczyk and Kittle and finished the 2024 season in the top five in the NFL in multiple categories. The unit finished tied-for-second in yards per play (6.2), fourth in yards per game (376.3), fourth in passing yards per game (249.1) and fourth in total yards (6,397).

Lombardi joined the 49ers after spending two seasons (2022-23) as the offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders. He joined the Raiders following his second stint with the New England Patriots, where he served three seasons working as the team's wide receivers coach (2020-21) and assistant quarterbacks coach (2019). Prior to his time with New England, Lombardi was the offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach for the New York Jets for two seasons (2017-18). He went to the Jets following four seasons (2013-16) with the 49ers as the assistant to the head coach (2013), defensive assistant (2014-15) and offensive quality control (2016). He initially broke into the NFL as a scouting assistant with New England for two seasons (2011-12). Lombardi began his coaching career in the collegiate ranks as a student assistant at Fordham University (2009-10).

A native of Ocean City, NJ, Lombardi earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Fordham in 2011.

Lynch joins the 49ers after spending one season (2024) with the University of Washington where he served as a defensive graduate assistant.

A native of Del Mar, CA, Lynch played linebacker at Stanford University for five seasons (2018-22). He earned a bachelor's degree in science, technology and society from Stanford. Lynch is the son of 49ers President of Football Operations/General Manager and Pro Football Hall of Famer, John Lynch.

Scruggs joins the 49ers after serving one season (2023) as the defensive line coach for the University of Wisconsin. Scruggs returned to the collegiate ranks after one season (2022) as the assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets.

Prior to his NFL coaching career, Scruggs was the defensive line coach for two seasons (2020-21) at the University of Cincinnati following two years as the program's director of player development (2018-19). His tenure as defensive line coach included an appearance in the Cotton Bowl as part of the 2021 College Football Playoffs Semifinal.

A native of Cincinnati, OH, Scruggs played defensive line at the University of Louisville for four seasons (2008-11) and went on to have a five-year NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks (2012-15), Chicago Bears (2015-16) and New England Patriots (2016) as a defensive lineman and later a tight end. Scruggs was a member of two Super Bowl winning teams (XLVIII-Seattle & LI-New England).

Webster enters his third season with the 49ers, and first as offensive quality control, after spending the previous two seasons (2023-24) as a defensive quality control coach. Webster worked closely with LB Fred Warner as a defensive quality control coach, who has earned consecutive AP First-Team All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl selections with his help. In 2024, Webster helped the 49ers defense finish with top 10 marks in passing defense (192.8 – fifth) and total defense (317.4 – eighth). The 2023 49ers defense finished the season with 22 interceptions, tied for the most in the NFL, and the third-ranked rushing defense (89.7).

Webster joined the 49ers after three seasons (2020-22) in the collegiate ranks. He served one season (2022) as an offensive graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin and two seasons (2020-21) as defensive graduate assistant and offensive volunteer at the University of Missouri.

A native of Nashville, TN, Webster attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he played tight end for the school and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and management.
