49ers Sign Defensive Lineman to Practice Squad, Release DL Jonathan Garvin

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed DL Nesta Jade Silvera to the team's practice squad. In order to make room on the practice squad, the team released DL Jonathan Garvin.

Silvera (6-2, 315) was originally drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Throughout his two-year career, he has appeared in nine games with the Raiders (2023-24) where he has registered 10 tackles. In 2024 with Las Vegas, Silvera appeared in seven games and totaled eight tackles prior to being waived by the team on October 21, 2024.

A 24-year-old native of Pembroke Pines, FL Silvera attended University of Miami for four seasons (2018-21) before transferring to Arizona State University for one season (2022). Throughout his college career he appeared in 53 games (28 starts) and registered 161 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Garvin (6-4, 257) originally signed to the team's practice squad on August 9, 2024.
