49ers Sign a Safety, Place DL Jackson on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed S Tracy Walker III to a one-year deal. In order to make room on the roster, the team has placed DL Drake Jackson on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List.

Walker III (6-1, 206) was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout his six-year NFL career with the Lions (2018-23), he has appeared in 79 games (43 starts) and registered 375 tackles, 23 passes defensed, 4.0 sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. In 2023, Walker appeared in a career-high 17 games (six starts) and totaled 57 tackles, two passes defensed, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble.

A 29-year-old native of Brunswick, GA, Walker attended Louisiana-Lafayette University (2013-17) where he appeared in 50 games (42 starts) and recorded 275 tackles, 26 passes defensed, eight interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sack.

Jackson (6-4, 273) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List on July 24, 2024.
