49ers Complete Interview with Jett Modkins for Vacant Special Teams Coordinator Role

The San Francisco 49ers completed an interview with Jett Modkins over the weekend for the team's vacant special teams coordinator position.

Currently, Modkins is an assistant special teams coach for the Detroit Lions. He is the second Lions assistant coach to be interviewed by the 49ers for a coordinator position this offseason. San Francisco completed an interview with defensive passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend on Thursday for their open defensive coordinator role.

Modkins has worked under Detroit's special teams coordinator Dave Fipp for the past four seasons.

His coaching career began in 2019 when he served as a defensive volunteer coach Akron University's football team. Modkins then went on to take a diversity coaching intern position with the Denver Broncos in 2020.

He is the son of former 49ers offensive coordinator (2016) and current Minnesota Vikings running backs coach/run game coordinator Curtis Modkins.
