49ers Complete Interview with Chris Banjo for Vacant Special Teams Coordinator Role

The San Francisco 49ers continued the search for their open special teams coordinator role on Monday.

The team announced they have completed an interview with Denver Broncos assistant special teams coach Chris Banjo. He has spent two seasons in his current position. Banjo is part of a special teams staff that has been critical to the development of First-Team All-Pro punt returner Marvin Mims Jr. In 2024, the Denver Broncos closed out the year with the top punt return average (15.7 yards).

Banjo joined the Broncos after playing 10 seasons in the NFL from 2013-22. He was a safety for the Green Bay Packers (2013-16), New Orleans Saints (2016-18) and Arizona Cardinals (2019-22).
