For the San Francisco 49ers, open practices at training camp are not just about gearing up for the upcoming season. The open practices also serve as an opportunity to celebrate the community that supports the team. One of the most cherished traditions of 49ers Camp is the team's community corner, where key figures from the Bay Area come together to share in the excitement of training camp while highlighting the importance of their roles in the community.

Friday's open practice was especially memorable as the 49ers hosted the Bay Area's frontline heroes. First responders from the San Francisco Fire Department, including firefighters, EMTs and paramedics were in attendance. Notably, Erica Brown, Assistant Deputy Chief of the San Francisco Fire Department and wife of Super Bowl XXIX Champion Dennis Brown, was present, further bridging the gap between the team and the community.

Practice concluded with a touching moment as quarterback Brock Purdy made his way to the community corner to personally thank the first responders. The event took a special turn when members of Fire Station 13, located in downtown San Francisco, presented Purdy with a customized firefighter helmet. Decorated with 49ers colors, the name "Purdy" and the number 13, the helmet was a symbol of respect.

"We wanted to present you this helmet," Rico, a firefighter from Station 13 said. "You're number 13, we're station number 13 in downtown San Francisco. All the members of the house got together and made you this."

"That's awesome," Purdy said with appreciation.

In a warm exchange of gratitude, Purdy signed a No. 13 49ers jersey in return for the helmet.

"This is going in the station, where we can see it as soon as we walk in," a firefighter from Station 13 said.

The connections made in the community corner at 49ers Camp will extend far beyond the football field, and the gesture from Fire Station 13 and heartfelt response from Purdy exemplify the essence of what makes the 49ers community corner so special.
