For the second time in three weeks, Solomon Thomas has been nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week. The San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive lineman recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and his first-career sack in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals. Thomas was also nominated following his four-tackle performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.
What's most impressive about Thomas' performance is that the 49ers needed him to step up in the wake of Garrett Celek's injury. Thomas went from playing 57 percent of snaps in Week 3 to 80 percent of snaps in Week 4. Robert Saleh called defensive line the second-toughest position to play for a rookie behind quarterback. That said, it appears that Thomas is starting to come into his own. His sack against Carson Palmer is sure to be the first of many over his career.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, New York Jets running back Elijah McGuire, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette and New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara are the other Week 4 nominees.
