Blaine Gabbert has been named the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback for the team's Week 11 road game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Jim Tomsula met with his quarterbacks on Monday afternoon and informed them that Gabbert will get the nod versus the Seahawks on Nov. 22.
Gabbert completed 15 of 25 passes for 185 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 9 home win over the Atlanta Falcons.
"He had a nice day on third down," Tomsula said of Gabbert's performance. "Very confident, (and he) knew where he wanted to go, and what he wanted to do. He put the ball where it needed to go on the field; the distribution of the ball was good."
Tomsula will provide further comment on the quarterback situation when he appears on KNBR's "Murph and Mac Morning Show" on Tuesday at 8 a.m. PT
"I'm so appreciative for this opportunity," Gabbert said after he won his first start since Week 3 of the 2012 regular season. "I just wanted to go out there today and just have fun. You play well when you're having fun and that was the biggest thing."
The 49ers were defeated at home, 20-3, by the Seahawks in Week 7. San Francisco will travel to Seattle following a bye in Week 10.
