The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they have placed CB Ahkello Witherspoon on the Injured Reserve List and signed DB Tyvis Powell to a one-year deal.
Powell (6-3, 211) appeared in four games (one start) this season with the 49ers and registered five tackles and one forced fumble on defense in addition to one special teams tackle prior to being waived by the team on November 12, 2018. He was signed to the New York Jets practice squad on December 4 and released on December 11.
Witherspoon (6-3, 195) appeared in 14 games (12 starts) this season with the 49ers and registered a career-high 37 tackles and four passes defensed.
