As a part of the NFL's ongoing commitment to develop talent and build relationships across the league's leadership, the NFL will host its Front Office & General Manager Accelerator Program from December 9-11 at the league meeting in Irving, Texas. This year, the San Francisco 49ers are excited to announce that Josh Williams, Director of Scouting and Football Operations has been invited to participate in the Accelerator.
This year's accelerator marks the sixth iteration of this program and follows the 2024 Coach Accelerator that was held at the Spring League Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
Josh Williams and other highly qualified candidates across player personnel, football operations, and assistant general manager roles were selected to participate in the Accelerator program. Through a series of leadership development workshops and networking sessions led by renowned academic leaders and industry experts, candidates will leave with valuable insights and practical tools to support their journey to future leadership roles.
The 49ers are proud to be represented at this month's program by this year's rising prospect, Josh Williams – recognized for his proven excellence and readiness to take on top roles within the NFL. The 2024 season marks Williams' 14th with the organization and first as director, scouting and football operations. In his current role, Williams directs pro and college scouting efforts, supports player development, and assists in contract negotiations.
Williams career with the 49ers began in 2011. His previous roles include: national scout (2022-2023), area scout (2017-21), National Football Scouting representative (2016), personnel scout (2013-2015) and assistant to the scouting department (2011-2014).
Williams is homegrown front office talent. He is native of Santa Rosa, CA, he graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco in 2005 and then earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Columbia University in 2010.
