49ers Docuseries 'Gold Rush' Coming to AMC Networks

A new four-part documentary on the history of the San Francisco 49ers is coming to AMC Networks. Titled "Gold Rush," the series will spotlight the team's dominant run during the 1980s and 90s, when the 49ers won five Super Bowls in 15 seasons.

The series is being produced by AMC Studios and Skydance Sports, along with NFL Films and Religion of Sports. Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, who grew up a 49ers fan, will serve as an executive producer and appear in the series.

"Gold Rush" will feature interviews with 49ers legends Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Ronnie Lott, and former team owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. It will also feature rare footage from NFL Films, including behind-the-scenes clips and team speeches from that era.

"The 49ers Dynasty changed everything," NFL Films executive producer Ken Rodgers said. "In between the Super Bowl victories by Green Bay and Pittsburgh in the '60's and '70s, and the high-flying victories by the Cowboys and Patriots in the '90s and 2000's, the NFL was changed forever by San Francisco's performance on the field and their approach to the sport off the field. Thanks to our partners at AMC, Skydance Sports, and Religion of Sports, we finally get to tell the story of the dynasty that created the modern NFL."

The Faithful can look forward to reliving some of the most iconic moments in 49ers history and hearing stories from the people who experienced it firsthand. Directed by Rodgers and Gotham Chopra, "Gold Rush" is expected to air in 2026.
