Steve Risser is in his 23rd season with the San Francisco 49ers and third as vice president, team operations. He spent the 2021 season as director of team logistics & operations after serving five years as the director of team logistics (2016-20) and eight seasons (2008-15) as the team logistics manager. Risser's responsibilities include managing the day-to-day football operations and team travel, while overseeing the 49ers training facility, groundskeeping and team security.
In 2021, the 49ers logistics department was named the NFL's Travel Department of the Year for the third-consecutive season. This award is voted on by all of the major hotel brands (Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.), as well as individual properties throughout the country. The award is given to the NFL Travel Department that best represents their respective club in a first-class manner and embodies professionalism, strong work-ethic, communication, ease of doing business, etc. Risser and his staff also won the award in 2015.
Risser joined the 49ers in 2002, as a community relations intern. Throughout his internship, Risser also assisted with special projects for both the public relations and marketing departments.
In 2005, Risser made the transition to the team logistics department where he assisted with team travel and logistical needs, as well as overseeing the team's training camp operation.
Born in Santa Clara, CA, Risser grew up in Fremont and attended Moreau Catholic High School, where he was a two-year letter-winner in baseball.
A graduate of Cal State Hayward, Risser and his small business owner wife, Shannon, have twins – a daughter, Ashlyn, and a son, Blake.
