Michael Slap is in his 15th year with the San Francisco 49ers and second as senior director, team operations. He spent two years (2021-22) as the director of team operations after serving six years (2015-20) as the team logistics manager. In his role, Slap manages the team's day-to-day operations, team travel and training camp. He also provides oversight of the equipment department's operations and budgets.
In 2021, the 49ers team operations department was named the NFL's Travel Department of the Year for the third-consecutive season. This award is voted on by all of the major hotel brands (Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.), as well as individual properties throughout the country. The award is given to the NFL Travel Department that best represents their respective club in a first-class manner and embodies professionalism, strong work-ethic, communication, ease of doing business, etc. Slap was also part of the 49ers team operations department that won the award in 2015, 2019 and 2020.
Slap originally joined the 49ers as a training camp intern in the team logistics department in 2010. He returned in 2011 in the same capacity and remained with the team throughout the entire season. After graduating from the University of California, Davis in 2012, Slap was hired full-time as the team logistics assistant.
Slap has also assisted the NFL Football Operations Department for Super Bowl 50, Super Bowl LI, Super Bowl LII, Super Bowl LIII and Super Bowl LVIII.
As an undergraduate at UC Davis, Slap worked all four years for the University's Intercollegiate Athletics program as a student event manager, public address announcer and a football operations intern/team manager.
Born in Chico, CA, Slap grew up in Danville where he attended Monte Vista High School. Slap currently resides in Palo Alto, CA with his wife, Devon, and their son, Owen.
