Michael Bracken is in his 14th year with the 49ers and third as the team's vice president, football technology/video. He spent the previous four seasons (2018-21) as the director of video operations and seven seasons (2011-17) as video operations manager.
Bracken oversees all daily video operations responsibilities, including the production and editing of all practice and game films for team personnel. He also oversees the systems/software teams, which deploys and manages the club's mobile playbook and video solutions. Additionally, Bracken and his staff coordinate film exchanges with other teams and NFL Films, as well as maintain the 49ers NFL and collegiate video library.
With the evolution of technology, Bracken's video department manages content on various video platforms, allowing players, coaches and staff to watch film in different locations on their iPads, laptops and other electronic/mobile devices.
Bracken is the chairperson of the NFL Video Director's Committee, working closely with various NFL Football Operations, NFL Information Technology and other League departments, while helping implement the league's cutting-edge and ever-changing gameday technology. In addition, he is a member of the Film/Video Director Selection Committee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Awards of Excellence, which launched in 2022 to recognize significant contributors to the game.
Prior to joining the 49ers, Bracken spent four years as the assistant video coordinator for the Florida State University athletic department, where he serviced 16 intercollegiate sports. While completing his undergraduate studies at Florida State, he served as a student assistant in the school's video department since 2003.
Bracken, and his wife, Erika, reside in Campbell, CA.
