Jordan Nieuwsma is in his first season with the 49ers as assistant, strength and conditioning. He spent the previous season as an assistant football athletic performance coach for the University of California football team where he led and assisted in all aspects of physical preparation for the team.
Prior to his stint with Cal, Nieuwsma spent four years (2018-22) as an assistant sports performance coach at Elon University. During his time with Elon, Nieuwsma oversaw the design and implementation of strength training programs for football and basketball athletes as well as other sports. He also spent time in the strength and conditioning departments with Concordia University, St. Paul, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota.
A native of Lakeville, MN, Nieuwsma attended Concordia University, St. Paul, where he completed his master's degree in kinesiology and exercise science and earned his bachelor's degrees in exercise science and sports management. He also was a four-year member and team captain as a defensive back on the football team. He currently resides in Santa Clara, CA, with his wife, Kelli, and his son, Nash.
