Cameron Brown is in his first season as a 49ers defensive quality control coach. He joined the 49ers after two years (2021-22) at Division III Case Western Reserve University where he worked as an assistant defensive line coach (2021) and outside linebackers coach (2022).
Last season, Brown helped lead Case Western's defense to top-five finishes in total defense (288.1 yards allowed per game) and scoring defense (18.5 points per game) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). Both of these marks were improvements from the 2021 season that saw the Spartans allow 373.9 yards per game and 26.1 points per game. Brown began his coaching career at Case Western after spending one season (2020) playing defensive end for the Cineplexx Blue Devils in the Austrian Football League.
A native of Westlake, OH, Brown spent three seasons (2016-19) at Case Western, where he appeared in 43 games and registered 187 tackles, 34.5 sacks, 60 TFLs, one INT, 10 passes defensed, 12 FFs and five FRs. Brown holds the program records in career sacks (34.5) and single-season sacks (15.0) at Case Western. In 2018, Brown was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Year after posting 49 tackles, 15.0 sacks, 18.5 TFLs, six FFs, and one FR. He earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Case Western in 2020.
