November 8, 1964

On this day, quarterback George Mira, nicknamed "The Matador," established a 49ers rookie record by throwing a 79-yard scoring pass to All-Pro wide receiver Dave Parks against the Minnesota Vikings.

Mira was a second-round draft pick of the 49ers in 1964. During Mira's five years in San Francisco, he was John Brodie's understudy at quarterback and was known for his fearless scrambling ability.
