In the NFC West Report, we keep you covered on the San Francisco 49ers divisional rivals.
St. Louis Rams
Week 1:34-6 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
Storylines:The Rams suffered three second-half injuries: Left guard Rodger Saffold went down and was replaced by first-round NFL Draft pick Greg Robinson, who didn't earn a starting job in training camp; defensive lineman Chris Long suffered an ankle injury and didn't finish the game, while quarterback Shaun Hill suffered a thigh injury in the third quarter... Both Hill and his replacement, Austin Davis, threw an interception... The defense yielded 186 rushing yards to the Adrian Peterson-led Vikings, even though Peterson gained just 71 on the ground... Also, the team as a whole committed 13 penalties totaling 121 yards.
Quote:"We didn't play very well today," head coach Jeff Fisher told StLouisRams.com. "I was not anticipating that out of us. I'm just disappointed. It seemed throughout the game that different players took turns making drive-killing mistakes, or allowing drives to continue."
Week 2:St. Louis visits the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals
Week 1:18-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers.
Storylines:There was still a reported attendance of 61,292 for the "Monday Night Football Game" despite massiving flooding... Carson Palmer's 13-yard touchdown toss to rookie wide receiver John Brown with 2:25 left to play proved to be the difference... Another wideout, Michael Floyd, continued to enjoy playing in Larry Fitzgerald's shadow, as he snagged five receptions for 119 yards... Fitzgerald, who wasn't able to handle what would have been a great touchdown catch, had just one reception for 22 yards overall, giving him at least one grab in 150 straight games... Running back Andre Ellington, who didn't practice Friday because of injury, rushed 13 times for 53 yards in his first game as the team's lead ball carrier... At halftime, Kurt Warner was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor... The team lost starting defensive end Frostee Rucker to a calf injury; Rucker has been replacing Darnell Dockett, who was already lost for the season because of a knee injury.

Seattle Seahawks
Week 1:36-16 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Storylines:The Seahawks offense seemed to firing on all cylinders, as both running back Marshawn Lynch and quarterback Russell Wilson recorded two touchdowns... Meanwhile, the defense limited Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to 189 yards... One piece of bad news for the team: It placed cornerback Jeremy Lane on its Injured Reserve/Designated to Return list... Speaking of cornerbacks, Byron Maxwell's pick of Rodgers was predicted.
Quote:"'Lord have mercy, we have Percy,' that's what I always say," Wilson told reporters postgame. "He is a great player, plays so hard, pushes the other receivers and players and they have a great relationship."
Week 2:Seattle visits San Diego on Sunday.
