Ahmad Brooks will be the San Francisco 49ers lone representative in Sunday's Pro Bowl game.
Out of a league-high eight selections, Brooks, the eighth-year linebacker will be the only 49ers player headed to Hawaii. The other seven Pro Bowlers will miss the game due to injuries.
All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman suffered torn ligaments in his left knee in the NFC Championship game and left guard Mike Iupati suffered a broken fibula on his left leg, according to multiple reports. In addition, Joe Staley, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore and Justin Smith have all opted to not play in the game.
Brooks was a Pro Bowl selection in 2012 as an alternate, but this year will be his first chance to play in the game.
"It's more of a special feeling for me," Brooks told 49ers.com on Dec. 27. "You work to be considered as an elite player in the NFL and in any level that you play. It's being recognized now. I feel like I'm an elite guy, so it feels good to know other people are watching."
