The San Francisco 49ers have placed WR Mario Manningham on the Injured Reserve List. To fill the vacant spot on the roster, the team has promoted DL Tony Jerod-Eddie from the practice squad, signing him to a three-year contract.
Manningham (6-0, 185) signed with 49ers on March 22, 2012, after spending four seasons with the New York Giants. This season, he played in 12 games (10 starts) and registered 42 receptions for 449 yards and one touchdown.
Jerod-Eddie (6-5, 301) was originally signed by the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 7, 2012. Jerod-Eddie has spent the entire season on the team's practice squad.
A 22-year old native of DeSoto, TX, Jerod-Eddie played in 51 games (38 starts) at Texas A&M, where he registered 148 tackles, 7.0 sacks 14.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. As a senior, he earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors.
