South Carolina Jadeveon Clowney is the top player on Mel Kiper Jr.'s draft board. He's also the top-ranked player according to NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah.
But will the Houston Texans make the elite defensive end their No. 1 overall selection?
Clowney believes he should be the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
"I should be," the South Carolina junior said during a Thursday appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show."
"Coming out of high school I told myself I wanted to go into the draft and to be the No. 1 pick," Clowney said. "I worked hard to get to this point in my life where I gave myself a great chance to go No. 1 in the draft and hopefully I will get to be No. 1.
"I'm going to try to prove myself at the Combine and hopefully just go up from there."

Clowney might have been the No. 1 overall pick if he was able to enter the draft in 2013. The impressive defensive end, however, had to be three years removed from his high school graduation to play professional football. Clowney finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting as a sophomore. As a junior, Clowney was unable to have the same type of impact as his previous season.
Clowney recorded 13 sacks as a sophomore and 3 sacks as a junior.
Perhaps a record-setting 40-yard dash time will remind everyone of his talents.
We'll have to wait and see.
