Today marks 100 days until the start of the 2018 NFL season. While kickoff inches closer, Bleacher Report is helping pass the time with a statistical projection of all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks.
Gary Davenport provided a promising outlook in his prediction for how Jimmy Garoppolo will fare in 2018.
During the Garoppolo-led five-game winning streak to end 2017, he posted 1,542 yards on 118 completions, six touchdowns and five interceptions. Over an entire 16-game season, that projects out to 4,934 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
Garoppolo will head into 2018 with a full offseason under his belt to digest Kyle Shanahan's playbook.
Davenport predicts that Garoppolo will post 381 completions for 4,323 yards, 25 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. According to Davenport, Garoppolo will have more completions and more yards than any other NFC West signal caller.
Here's a look at Davenport's projected passing stats for the rest of the NFC West QBs:
Quarterback | Attempts | Completions | Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jimmy Garoppolo | 585 | 381 | 4,323 | 25 | 16 |
Russell Wilson (SEA) | 559 | 352 | 4,075 | 28 | 10 |
Jared Goff (LAR) | 530 | 328 | 4,107 | 29 | 13 |
Sam Bradford (ARI) | 225 | 145 | 1,465 | 8 | 3 |
Josh Rosen (ARI) | 358 | 224 | 2,431 | 14 | 7 |
If Davenport's projection proves true, Garoppolo will be the first 49ers quarterback to surpass 4,200 passing yards since Jeff Garcia in 2000 (4,278 yards and 31 touchdowns).
