Since we have already visited the 2018 home opponents, it's time to look into who the San Francisco 49ers will face on the road this season.
In addition to its three reoccurring divisional matchups (that you can find here), San Francisco will visit the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As we wait for the regular season schedule to be released on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT, let's dive into the 49ers 2018 road matchups.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
2017 Record: 7-9
Recent Additions: The Packers had a busy offseason, trading for former Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer, and signing former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham and former New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
Last meeting against the 49ers: The 49ers last faced the Packers in 2015 where San Francisco fell to Green Bay, 17-3.
What are the experts saying: "Bolstering a 37-sack defense from a year ago and giving Rodgers a surefire weapon in Graham helps ease the pain of losing Jordy Nelson. It also puts the Packers in a great position heading into the draft."
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
2017 Record: 10-6
Recent Additions: Former Los Angeles Rams receiver Sammy Watkins, former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens and Washington Redskins cornerback Kendall Fuller were a few of the Chiefs top acquisitions this offseason.
Last meeting against the 49ers: A fake punt helped the 49ers defeat the Chiefs at home in a 22-17 victory in 2014.
What are the experts saying: "The objective was simple enough—get Patrick Mahomes II some weapons."
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
2017 Record: 9-7
Recent Additions: Former New York Giants quarterback Geno Smith, former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jaylen Watkins and former Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey were some of the Chargers recent additions this offseason.
Last meeting against the 49ers: The 49ers fell to the Chargers at home in overtime, 38-35, in 2014.
What are the experts saying: "Though they already boast a playoff-caliber defense, the Los Angeles Chargers have been largely silent in free agency."
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
2017 Record: 13-3
Recent Additions: The Vikings found their franchise quarterback, signing former Washington Redskins signal-caller Kirk Cousins. Minnesota also added former New York Jets tackle Sheldon Richardson and former Chicago Bears receiver Kendall Wright.
Last meeting against the 49ers: In 2015, the 49ers opened the regular season with a 20-3 home win over the Vikings.
What are the experts saying: "On defense, the Vikings got a steal on a one-year deal with Sheldon Richardson, giving defensive-minded head coach Mike Zimmer another tool work with up front. Otherwise, the Vikings have been quiet."
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
2017 Record: 5-11
Recent Additions: The Buccaneers upgraded their defensive line this offseason with the additions of former Eagles Beau Allen and Vinny Curry. The team also added former Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
Last meeting against the 49ers: The Buccaneers last played the 49ers at Levi's® Stadium in 2016 and pulled off a 34-17 victory.
What are the experts saying: "The Buccaneers don't have the vibe of a team that spent big money unwisely, and they still possess a top-10 pick. The NFC South could have a big problem on its hands next season."
