Faithful,
This past year was frustrating on many levels for 49ers fans and this organization. For that, I want to apologize to you and everyone that cares deeply about this team. Over the last two years, I have learned a great deal. Some of this has come through difficult lessons that have also affected your confidence in this organization and me.
I want you to know that I am grateful for your passion -- even when it is in the form of criticism. I hear you at the stadium, on social media, and face-to-face. I share in your disappointment and know that it is my responsibility to do everything in my power to get us back to where we want to be and bring back a team that makes us all proud.
I spoke to Jim Tomsula yesterday and let him know he would not be returning as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. I want to thank him and his family for their dedication to this franchise. Jim is a man of high character and I wish him nothing but the best in the future.
Now we must turn our full attention to the crucial task of finding the next head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. The team will spare no expense and use every resource available to us throughout the process. We are looking for a coach that will help us achieve our ultimate goal.
As we begin the offseason today, I want you to know that you have been, and will continue to be, heard. And, this organization looks forward to hearing your cheers again soon.
Thank you for being the best fans in the NFL.
Jed
