The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed WR Keshawn Martin to a two-year deal.
Martin (5-11, 195) was originally drafted by the Houston Texans in the fourth round (121st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent three years (2012-14) with the Texans, appearing in 48 games (two starts) and registering 38 receptions for 416 yards and three touchdowns. Martin also returned 86 punts for 766 yards and one touchdown as well as 68 kickoffs for 1,707 yards. On September 17, 2015, he was traded to the New England Patriots. In his one season with the Patriots, he appeared in nine games (eight starts) and registered 24 receptions for 269 yards and two touchdowns in addition to returning eight punts for 92 yards on special teams. In two postseason contests with New England, he caught two passes for 57 yards. Martin was waived by New England on September 3, 2016.
A 26-year-old native of Inkster, Mich., Martin attended Michigan State University, where he appeared in 48 games (16 starts) throughout his four-year career (2008-11).
