The San Francisco 49ers have signed WR Brandon Carswell to a two-year contract. In order to make room for Carswell on the roster, the team waived TE Cameron Morrah.
Carswell (6-1, 201) originally entered the league in 2012 as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders. He spent training camp with Oakland before being released on August 31. Carswell was signed to the Raiders practice squad the next day, only to be released on September 12.
A 24-year-old native of nearby Milpitas, CA, Carswell attended the University of Southern California, where he appeared in 45 games, notching 40 receptions for 386 yards and two touchdowns. The Bay Area native graduated from Milpitas High School, where he earned San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro First-Team and San Jose Mercury News All-Area MVP honors, as a senior.
Morrah (6-3, 251) originally signed with the 49ers as a free agent on April 18.
