49ers Sign LB Haggans, LB Haralson to IR

The San Francisco 49ers signed LB Clark Haggans to a one-year contract. To make room on the roster for Haggans, the team placed LB Parys Haralson on the Injured Reserve List.

Haggans (6-4, 243) was originally selected in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has played in 163 games (104 starts) and registered 502 tackles, 46.5 sacks, one interception, 16 forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and 24 passes defensed in his career. Haggans played with the Steelers from 2000-07 before signing with the Arizona Cardinals, in 2008. After spending four seasons (2008-11) with the Cardinals, he was released on August 31, 2012.

A 35-year-old native of Torrance, CA, Haggans played at Colorado State where he earned First-Team All-Mountain West Conference honors as senior. Haggans holds the Rams record with 33.0 career sacks.

Haralson was originally selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Tennessee. In six seasons, he has tallied 295 tackles, 21.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles in 86 regular season games (68 starts).
