Under the lights on Friday, October 25th, the Sacred Heart Gators were able to win against the previously undefeated King's Academy Knights, to a score of 24-9. Only one game a season is selected to be played under the lights at Sacred Heart Preparatory, making this match-up a highly anticipated conference game. Although the Gators had several key players out due to injuries, they were still able to keep possession of the ball for over 27 minutes.
Fueling his passion for helping others through teaching, Coach Grieb teaches Chemistry at Sacred Heart and is currently serving his 5th year as head coach of the Sacred Heart Varsity football team. In the little free time he has, Grieb enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He credits his wife for holding him accountable to consistently train for the IRONMAN race they plan to participate in together next summer.
"There are two expectations I have for the rest of the season," said Coach Grieb. "The first is that we stay prepared to play each game our best, and the second expectation is that we play this game for one another, winning lets you play one more game together."
When asked what being named the Charlie Wedemeyer Memorial Coach of the Week means to him, Coach Grieb said, "I remember many things about Charlie, but his will to coach and help others will always stick out to me."
As our 49ers PREP Charlie Wedemeyer Memorial Coach of the Week presented by U.S. Bank, Grieb will receive a $1,000 grant for the Sacred Heart football program from the 49ers Foundation. As part of this award, he will also receive two tickets to a 49ers home game where he will be recognized on the field. Grieb will also be invited to visit the SAP Performance Facility to watch a closed practice where 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will officially present him with his award. Grieb will be featured on the 49ers Cal-Hi Sports Report presented by U.S. Bank on Sunday's at 6 & 10 p.m. on NBC Sports California, which will continue to air throughout the week.
Congratulations, Coach Grieb!
