49ers Players React to 29-13 Loss to Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers fell to 3-7 on Sunday in a 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks from CenturyLink field. Following the game, players spoke with the media and shared their thoughts on the game.

Here are the most notable quotes.

NT Ian Williams

(On today's performance…) "We beat ourselves today. Missed a lot of tackles. (It) sucked losing 90 (Glenn Dorsey) out there like that so early in the game. Simply, we beat ourselves, (we) missed a lot of tackles. Hats off to them, to (Thomas) Rawls and everything like that. I feel like we beat ourselves today."

(On if he was surprised by Seattle running back Thomas Rawls' performance…) "No, he's a good running back. He has a bright future, and we are going to see a lot of him in the future. What's done is done."

LB Michael Wilhoite

(On Rawls' production on Sunday…) "My hats off to him. I think he ran the ball well, tough runner, physical, fast. I think also to come back to us, we didn't do what we're supposed to do. We missed tackles. We weren't in the right gaps. What you saw against Atlanta was very good team defense. We didn't play that today."

(On the number of missed tackles…) "I just think we weren't in good positions to make plays. I think that people aren't in the right position they are supposed to be. They aren't in the right gaps, people are scrambling to make plays. When you are scrambling to make plays, you aren't going to bring down a good runner with one hand or a body tackle. You got to be square, and you got to explode through him. We weren't able to do that."

*LB NaVorro Bowman *

(On if returning to Seattle following the injury was difficult…) "I got over that after warmups and things like that. It's a blessing for me to get back out here. Glad that I came out of the game healthy."

(On the run defense…) "Glenn (Dorsey) going down early really hurt us. I think Rawls wanted to prove himself to the Seattle Seahawks today so he came out there with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. We have to play better, we have to tackle better, and if we do that, I think today would've been a lot different."

TE Garrett Celek

(On his first career touchdown touchdown reception…) "That's something that Seattle has given up a lot especially against the (Cincinnati) Bengals and (Tyler) Eifert. That's something that we have just gotten really comfortable with over the week and even last week too. It's a great route for the tight end. So unexpected, but we executed it tonight."

OT Joe Staley

(On if he can articulate what is wrong with this team…) "I don't really know. I can't give that good sound bite there. I know it's frustrating. Even in the games we've won, we haven't played a complete game. It's either one side or the other carrying the team in those wins, and when we lose, it's either one side or the other or both sides at the same time. There were games when all three weren't executing like we wanted to, so we've got to put a full game together."

(On if this seemed like an opportunity to change the course of the season…) "This was a huge game for us.  We're only one back for second place in the division going into this game.  A big opportunity. We knew going in this is a hard place to win and teams have done it this season. We felt good with our game plan. We just didn't do enough to win the game. It's very frustrating and embarrassing."
