The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they have signed WR Louis Murphy and TE Logan Paulsen to one-year deals. In order to make room on the roster, the team has placed TE Cole Hikutini and S Jaquiski Tartt on the Injured Reserve List. The team also signed OL Andrew Lauderdale to the team's practice squad.
Murphy (6-2, 200) was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. Throughout his eight-year NFL career with the Raiders (2009-11), Carolina Panthers (2012), New York Giants (2013) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014-16), he has appeared in 88 games (28 starts) and registered 162 receptions for 2,322 yards and 10 touchdowns. He signed with the 49ers on July 31, 2017, and was later waived on September 1.
A 30-year-old native of St. Petersburg, FL, Murphy attended the University of Florida where he appeared in 48 games (26 starts) and totaled 77 receptions for 1,245 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Paulsen (6-5, 268) appeared in each of the team's first seven games this season and was released on October 24, 2017.
Lauderdale (6-6, 291) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on June 9, 2017, and was later waived on September 1.A 23-year-old native of Concord, NH, Lauderdale attended the University of New Hampshire where he appeared in 42 games (22 starts) along the offensive line. As a senior in 2016, he started 13 games at left tackle, where he earned Third-Team All-CAA honors.
Following his promotion to the active roster on October 14, 2017, Hikutini (6-4, 247) saw action in four games, finishing with two receptions for 15 yards. Tartt (6-1, 221) started in a career-high nine games this season and registered 54 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and 0.5 sack.
