49ers Announce October CR Events

The San Francisco 49ers announced today their community relations events for the month of October. In October, the 49ers will participate in various community events in the Bay Area focusing on the year-long theme of RESPECT for families, schools and the community. The featured event of the month will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the SJB Child Development Center in San Jose (SJBCD), when the team participates in the Hometown Huddle: United Way/49ers Play 60 F.I.T. Center Makeover.  The team will perform a complete remodel of SJBCDC's after school/summer care center, creating a space where kids can have a healthy start by building a fitness interactive technology (F.I.T.) center for the youth.

"Giving back to the Bay Area community and helping to show our youth the value of respect for families, schools and the community is extremely important to our organization and our players," said Joanne Pasternack, 49ers Director of Community Relations and the 49ers Foundation. "The events we have scheduled for the month of October will build on the impact we have made through the month of September, and our players and staff members are looking forward to continuing to give back to the community that supports us each season."

*The October 12th event will take place from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the SJB Child Development Center, located at 1601 Cunningham Avenue, San Jose, CA 95122.

*Other events in the month of October will include:

The event, which will run from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on October 5th, will help youth create ambitious career dreams and chart a path for future success.  Stonegate Elementary School is located at 2605 Gassman Drive in San Jose, CA.

-While the 49ers are in London for their international showcase against Denver, the team will host a "Football and Football: Get Fit" event on October 26th in London which seeks to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles to low-income youth. This cooperative program will feature the 49ers, and players and alumni from the Tottenham Hotspurs working together to show how to integrate football and soccer skills into a fitness routine. The event will be held at Northumberland Park Community School from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Gish Road #100 in San Jose, CA.

Each time the 49ers perform community service work with children, they educate the youth about the franchise's award-winning RESPECT campaign. The RESPECT campaign teaches youth the necessity of showing respect for their schools, families and communities.

Volunteers from VISA will be on hand during a majority of the above events to help support the 49ers RESPECT campaign and give back to the Bay Area community. Visa is the Exclusive Payment Services sponsor of the San Francisco 49ers.
