The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday they have activated LS Kyle Nelson. In order to make room on the roster, the team has released WR Jordan Matthews.
Nelson (6-2, 240) re-joined the 49ers in 2014 after two previous stints with the team. He has appeared in 93 games throughout his seven seasons in the NFL. From 2014-18, Nelson handled the long snapping duties for 76 games with the 49ers. He also registered 17 tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams throughout his career. He was placed on the Reserve/Suspended List on August 31, 2019.
A 33-year-old native of Waco, TX, Nelson played collegiately at New Mexico State University.
Matthews (6-3, 215) signed with the 49ers on October 3, 2019, was inactive for two games and saw action in the team's Week 7 win at Washington.
