The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday they have added DL Glenn Dorsey to the 53-man roster from the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return List. To make room for Dorsey on the roster, the team placed NT Ian Williams on the Injured Reserve List.
Dorsey (6-1, 297) was originally drafted by the Chiefs in the first round (5th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft and joined the 49ers in 2013, after five seasons with Kansas City. He appeared in all 16 games (13 starts) and three postseason contests for San Francisco last season, registering a career-high 100 tackles and two sacks.
Williams (6-1, 305) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2011. A four-year veteran, he has appeared in 15 games (nine starts), including nine games (eight starts) this season. In 2014, Williams set career highs in tackles (41), sacks (one) and passes defensed (one).
