The San Francisco 49ers on announced Tuesday that they have signed guard/tackle Erik Pears to a two-year deal.
Pears (6-8, 316) originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2005. After spending the entire 2005 season on the Broncos practice squad, he has gone on to play in 101 games (86 starts) throughout his 10-year NFL career with the Broncos (2005-08), Oakland Raiders (2009) and Buffalo Bills (2010-14). Pears was part of a Bills rushing attack that ranked second in the NFL in 2013, and led the AFC in rushing yards per game (144.2). He started all 16 games each of the past two seasons in Buffalo.
A 32-year-old native of Price, Utah, Pears attended Colorado State University, where he appeared in 48 games (40 starts) for the Rams. He started every game in each of his final two seasons, earning first-team All-Mountain West honors both years (2003-04).
