The San Francisco 49ers have signed G Joshua Garnett to a four-year deal. With the signing, the 49ers now have all 11 of their 2016 draft picks under contract.
Garnett (6-5, 321) was the second of two first-round draft picks (28th overall) selected by the 49ers in this year's draft. Garnett appeared in 55 games for the Cardinal in his collegiate career. As a senior in 2015, he became the first recipient of the Outland Trophy Award, given to the nation's most outstanding lineman, in school history. Garnett became the ninth unanimous All-America selection in Stanford history and was the recipient of the Morris Trophy Award, given to the Pac-12 Lineman of the Year. He also earned First-Team All-America and First-Team All-Pac-12 honors as he played in all 14 games and was named a team captain. In 2014, Garnett started all 13 games as the offensive line ranked 18th nationally in tackles for loss allowed (4.62 per game). As a sophomore, he played in 14 games and was part of an offensive line that ranked seventh nationally in tackles for loss allowed (4.14 per game), 11th in sacks allowed (1.14 per game) and 22nd in rushing offense (207.4 yards per game). In 2012, Garnett played in 14 games and was the first true freshman offensive lineman to start at Stanford since 2000.
