The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have released S George Odum.
Odum (6-1, 202) originally signed with the 49ers on March 22, 2022. In three seasons with the team (2022-24), he appeared in 40 games (two starts) and registered 14 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception, while adding 36 tackles on special teams. He also appeared in six postseason contests and added one special teams tackle.
In 2024, he appeared in 12 games (two starts) and tallied 11 tackles and a career-high four passes defensed, adding five tackles on special teams. In 2022, Odum earned AP Second-Team All-Pro honors on special teams after leading the NFL with 21 special teams tackles.
A 31-year-old native of Millington, TN, Odum attended the University of Central Arkansas for five years (2013-17) where he appeared in 48 games (39 starts) and tallied 350 tackles, 13 passes defensed, 6.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
